COVID UPDATE:
To My Dear Clients,
As healthcare professionals, the health and well-being of our clients and their loved ones has always and will always be our top priority. We are experiencing an unprecedented chain of events in our country, and difficult decisions are being placed before us.
Following the temporary closing of our office for 1-on-1 sessions March 12, 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, after careful consideration, we have reopened for in-person sessions while taking all the appropriate safety measures to protect our clients and our community.
I am available via a HIPAA compliant platform for telehealth sessions - for EXISTING CLIENTS ONLY.
With guidance from health experts, the CDC, and the behavioral health community, new precautions and procedures have been implemented. My goal is to always provide you, your families, and our community with the safest possible environment. Thus, during this time, we are keeping the following practices:
- You must come alone to your appointment. No visitors may accompany you; no exceptions.
- Please wait in your car upon arrival to our office and notify us by text/phone that you have arrived for your appointment. You MUST fill out a screening form prior to exiting your vehicle/entering the office. You will then be led straight back via the front door or the private side door entrance (to your preference).
- While we love and value each of our clients, handshakes and hugs may be replaced with an air fist or whatever air motions you would like :) for the time being.
- If you have cough, fever, or chills, please call our office to discuss how to reschedule or conduct a telehealth session.
- Hand sanitizer and disposable surgical masks are available at our office for you to wear during your session.
I realize these precautions err more on the side of caution; but prevention is how we can protect others and be our best selves.
I want to thank you for your patience and understanding during this stressful and unpredictable time.
It is always my honor and privilege to serve your needs and I look forward to seeing you soon!
Please stay well and take care of yourself and your loved ones!
- Tina Clayton

What to expect during session:
A warm, safe, and accepting environment that is free of judgment. Your comfort level is a top priority to me.
This is a place for you to feel supported to speak freely and honestly.
Kick off your shoes, get comfortable on the sofa, and let the work begin.
Together, we will work to discover new ways of coping and understanding to alleviate your distress so that you can begin to live the most rewarding and fulfilling life possible.
I look forward to meeting you!
The "fine print" to expect:
SCHEDULING:
When making an appointment, it is required that a credit card is posted on file in order to secure your appointment time.
Your card will not be charged unless you miss your appointment without notice.
Cancellation Policy:
Please be mindful that there is a 48 hour cancellation policy. It is understandable that life consists of obligations that may arise without notice, however in order to not take time away from someone else in need, you must cancel an appointment and receive confirmation within at least 48 hours of your appointment or you will be charged the no-show fee.
PAYMENT:
I accept cash, checks, and all major credit cards.
REDUCED FEE / SLIDING SCALE:
As a clinician, I am dedicated to providing quality psychotherapy services, education, and guidance in promoting wellness to all clients regardless of financial barriers. If you are private self-pay, services rates are more flexible to allow a reduced fee. If you are uninsured and have low income, I offer a service that may qualify you for a discounted fee for services! This service is provided on a limited as-available basis. Dependent on sliding scale availability, criteria considered in determining eligibility for a sliding fee includes your prior year's tax return as well as your prior month's income verification in the form of financial statements to reflect income less than 200% of the federal poverty level. Monthly verification will continue to be required for as long as sliding scale reduced fee services are rendered.
INSURANCE:
My clients usually pay for their services directly as a private self-pay client rather than using their insurance to maintain their privacy/benefits and reduce reimbursement paperwork (your obligation to superbill). For my clients that are private self-pay, I offer affordable sessions with discount rates only applicable to clients that choose to not use their insurance or are uninsured.
*See Service Rates page
If you decide to use your insurance; I do accept most major insurance plans/out-of-network, so please contact me via email or phone with the questions below answered. This enables me to submit your information to obtain a pre-authorization to confirm that I can accept your individualized plan prior to seeing you (no one likes payment surprises!)
Services may be covered in full or in part by your health insurance or employee benefit plan. Please check your coverage carefully by asking your insurance company the following questions:
- Who is my insurance company? What is the name of my specific plan (if applicable)?
- What is the primary policy holder's name (self or family member)?
- What is the primary policy holder's date of birth?
- What is my member number? What is my group number?
- Do I have mental health insurance benefits?
- What is my deductible and has it been met? If not, how much is remaining?
- What is my policy date (beginning to end date)?
- How many sessions per year does my health insurance cover?
- What is my coverage amount per therapy session?
- Does my insurance plan require that I see providers on their panel?
- Is approval required from my primary care physician?
